John Chmura was born June 24, 1882 in Zabno Poland of Maciej Chmura and Maryanna Kotlarz. Not much is known of his baptismal records or immigration documentation. It is known by his stories that that he was a very young man and was told by his father that mermaids were swimming alongside the ship. Agnes Sofia Tragarz was born November 13, 1882 of Michala Tragarz and Marianna Paprocki in Leki Gorne ( Galacia) Poland. She was baptized November 16, 1882 at St Bartholomwew Parish Dolne,John Chmura married Agnes Tragarz on January 31, 1906 at St John Cantius Parish Chicago Illinois. This Union produced six children. Helen Agnes ( Bernard Stanley Skaja ) , Francis (Julia ) , Edward ( Lila ) , Bernice ( Fred Elam ),Mary ( John Rostkowski ), and Ann ( Charles Okar )
